The French Quarter
This is the perfect place to start the tour of New Orleans for a new comer. This is a National Historic Landmark. It is the site of the original New Orleans colony established by the French in 1718. A single bite of this sandwich will make you fall in love.It is made from fresh French bread with mayonnaise and fried Gulf oysters. Visit in November in time for the annual Oak Street Po-Boy Festival which features more than 30 sandwich makers and over 40,000 enthusiasts.
Music
Though Bourbon Street has held the crown of being the town’s party hub for years, the music scene is shifting to Frenchman street. You will find jazz bands and solo performers in many of the street's clubs such as the DBA, the Blue Nile or even in restaurants such as the Three Muses.

Enjoy the Sazerac, Obituary cocktail or even the Ramos gin fizz which trace their roots here. A good place to enjoy is at the Cure, French 75 situated in the quarter or even at the Caroiusel which are usually frequented by the locals. Mingle freely with them as you sip the best of New Orleans.
